project:

spacem - build up on the road

location: Vienna Ljubljana, Rijeka, Zagreb, Belgrad, Sibiu, Bukarest, Mangalia, Tsarevo, Istanbul, Sofia, Novi Sad, Budapest, Warschau, Riga, Talinn, Warschau, Lodz, Prag, Bratislava, Vienna

date: 2006-01-01
info:

Moving through space, human beings create unexpected new relations with their environment, affecting it in a physical as well as virtual way. spacem will move through that constantly changing space, distorting it, discovering new perspectives.

Take off is scheduled for March 2006. The various stops will be inspired by new experiences, the factor of absolute mobility, environment's diction and the possibilities that result from being on the road. We're going on a trip, taking to the road in our vessel. This mobile space, the moving vessel, will be spacem's point of reference and coordination, providing us with means for building activity as our working space. Expansion is always possible as we plan to utilize public space for possible projects on location. Thus, the mobile working space becomes a visual symbol, an image, being physically present on the various stop-overs throughout the journey. In said manure, spacem will move visibly through the capitals of Europe over the course of three months.

Course of events:

First steps in realizing the project will be the construction of a website, that will be updated constantly, then the conception and building of the vehicle. As soon as those have been successfully completed, we will take to the road, moving through the actual, physical space, going through with our distinct ‚plots', that'll be developed on tour, and starting to produce the specific documentaries we're planning.

After completing our three-month trip, a catalogue with collected memories in the form of photo- and videodocumentaries, a demonstration of the completed plots and events, will be available, presenting the results. Emphasis will be laid on various important essays complementary to the main idea of the project. Additionally to the presentation of the catalogue, exhibitions will be organized, presenting the original material collected throughout the journey.

Plots:

The projects developed while being on tour, representing the various collaborations with local artists and architects, are titled 'plots'.
